Some of you may already know this, but for those that don't XVT isn't dying!  The community has banded together and alternatives to the zone are being thought up.  The two most popular ideas at this time are IRC, and BSC has created at chat room to meet in for xvt and xwa.  Now both of these will just be lobbies to meet in and you'll have to IP in to all games.  But it's a start.  A couple clans are trying to make an alternative "zone" websight as well.  

In other news I'm dl'in the Imptac ship set update from fawrcs.  If you want this here's the sight.  http://www.ncdez.com/fawrcs
go to downloads and click on the 4.5 ship update.  This will give you the t-wing, e-wing, starviper, tie oppressor, and a couple new cap ships that I don't remember.  It is completely compatible with existing files and zone patches.  Now I have a question lol.  It dl's as a zip file.  Does anyone have a link to a page where I can download a good zip program so I can use this update?  LOL

Just after I finished this post.......some fresh news hot off the presses hit the zone.  A BSC official (who shall remain nameless for now) entered and said there are some people working on a "new zone" for the xvt and xwa crowd.  Not many details could be released, but this person said it is scheduled to launch on tuesday.  They ran 3 test matches with 6 pilots each last night and had successful games.  So things are looking up!

Sounds like some things happenin for sure Acer, keep at it. As far as a zip program should still be able to get a version of winzip for free at www.winzip.com.

Yeah, great work Ace! And it's good to know that XvT isn't dying after all. Now i'll have something to do again ( quite Tank). Oh well.

Thanks for all the support guys!  I'll be hanging out in the xvt room tonight on the graveyard shift to see if I can dig up any more info.  As it stands right now this "new zone" seems like the best answer to our problem.  If it isn't IRC will work as a lobby, then we just IP into all games.  Hopefully the new zone will take off as it seems the easiest of the options.

Ok mates here's the latest update.  I've heard two things going on.  Some people are trying to make a new xvt server, and the zone is going to make a "cheaper" lobby for us.  The link for the zone room shall be.....  http://zone.msn.com/directplay/default.asp?TAd=1

UPA_Chris said something about working on a new server for xvt.  That's all the info I have on that project for the time being.  Hopefully if something huge comes up the clans will be notified via bsc or email.
