This ought to keep the kid busy for a little while, for the time being Rooties on me in the bar (By on me I mean on Vader's tab).
I'll begin this with him, and then join you shortly.

**Seals the training room door**

**Over the intercom-system inside the training room Man53's voice sends a harsh screech**

"This ough't to be fun Fireyone, I did it when I was a lad, and now its your turn.... You're craft.... a tin-bucket with dual cannons (no ions, no chafs, no missiles ((LA))), the enemies craft, 7 x-wings, You have 3 mins. to defeat all 7 x-wings atleast twice each, and you have a limit of 3 lives.

Any time you loose a life, you loose 500 points, any time you take a life, other than your own, you gain 800 points. If you never want to see this sim again, your goal is to get a minimum of 15000 points. Good luck padawan, and may the force be with you!"

**Three heavy weaponed x-wings uncloak right infront of the sitting duck known as Fireyone, and begin firing their cannons, with horrible in-accuracy**
**Two more light x-wings uncloak behind him, and lock on with 2 MLS's (missile launching systems)**

"Begin your training!"

"Oh, by the way.... you're going to be in this training sim for about 4 1/2 hours, however time will pass quite quickly for you, as the sim will simply reset itself every 8 mins. (3 mins of fighting 5 mins of rest, you're lucky its usually the other way around) I expect great results out of you young Padawan, don't disappoint me."

I only went through the Redemption mission. That was bad enough....

Heh, this one's my specialty, ask the old vets, I used to be the gauntlet runner, that seat can get pretty hot though. It was out a little bit before you came around, Honestly don't remember who made it, was it one of the UPA guys? or was it Hex? or Wow, my memorie has faded me.... hmmm I flew with the guy like crazy, and he wasn't UPA so scratch the UPA comment.... Oh well, names fall some times, but memory of the guy is great.

"Fireyone once you have finished running the gauntlet I have another test for you.  I used to do this religiously when I first came up into the starfighter ranks. 

The Mission:  your basic mine field set to hard difficulty. 

Your craft:  a standard Tie Fighter.

Mission:  Destroy as many mines as you can before time runs out.  Time is default limit of 5 mins.  (trust me if your alive this long your better than most jedi masters)

Mission Parameters:  Here's where the catch comes in.  When your setting up  the mission make sure you set deaths to 1.  Don't even bother to crank up your laser recharge, leave it on the maintenance setting (right in the middle).  If you crank it up to recharge automatically you'll lose to much speed and get killed quickly.  Also don't link your lasers as this will also slow down your firing rate.  Repeat as many times as necessary. 

Mission Objectives:  Kill as many mines as you can  before time runs out.  Your goal is to hit 20 mines.  If your alive long enough for your lasers to drain, I'll be impressed, but go a head and set them to recharge.  Remember your speed will be down so you will have to react quicker.  This mission is meant to get you used to firing on the run.  Many times in combat you don't have time to set up the perfect shot.  If done correctly, you should be able to hit your target while turning ect.

Ok then what about the Guantlet run?

Ah don't worry about that right now my friend, the mine fields ought to teach you enough, you cant do the gauntlet run without having multiplayer anyway.

However with the minefields for your first little while actually turn your laser recharge rates to 1/4 instead of default 1/2, learn to control your speed before you worry about surviving long enough to use your lasers, You'll most likely die pretty quick as the mines like to shoot back

The single shot laser setup will provde you with reasonable firing speed, considering I believe it only takes 1 or 2 laser shots to kill a mine, and I too will have to start doing that when I get XvT back up.

The gauntlet was just an RPG thing I wanted you to fllow in, however there really is a gauntlet run thing designed to stagger teams, I'm sure some of the older guys still have it, and if not i'll look into it.
