 Well heres what I fond out

Faction Rank
From SWG Wiki

Ranks a player can acheive in the Imperial and Rebel factions. Joining either faction as a Private requires 200 faction points. Training subsequent ranks cannot drop your total faction points below 200; thus, to train Master Sergeant, your character must have 2700 faction points so that 200 FP will be left over after training.

And it probably wouldn't hurt to mention that in order to gain these Faction points (which are required for anything you want that looks cool as a Rebel or Imperial), you have to do Rebel or Imperial missions.  No amount of credits is going to get you them.

Which is a shame since some of us have more credits than Faction Points lol.
